My First Stories accompany each phase of the Steps to Reading by Syllables program. These "first readers" are designed to match the syllable patterns students have mastered. As students progress through the 21 phases, they are introduced to new books that only include syllable patterns they’ve learned, ensuring that reading is always accessible and achievable.

By introducing reading as early as the first phase, students build confidence, knowing they have already been taught every syllable they encounter in the books. This systematic approach not only engages students but also allows them to experience success in reading early on.
